Azem: School technicians' strike will continue until wages are put in bank accounts

School technical workers have entered the strike: “Dania”, “Asim Vokshi”, “Gjergj Fista”, “mail Kemali”, “Hasan Pristina” and other schools in the capital.

And the chairman of the Kosovo Private Sector Union Federation, Yusuf Azemi, said the strike is being held in almost all Pristina schools and that workers will not return to work until salaries are executed.

I have no information that any school has broken the strike. So I think all schools are on strike. The demand for strike is because we are today on the 19th and we have not received salaries for April. Our salaries are so low that even when we take them in time, we can't get through it. Now we're in the third week we haven't taken them. This situation is even heavier than the destructive part of us are on credit and our banks call us for their interest every day. Actually, we don't know why the payments haven't been made. We have so spontaneously communicated with relevant institutions, but now we don't care if it's the fault in companies or in the Pristina municipality, we only care about our salaries. Otherwise, the worse these workers are now, some schools since May 1 and some since 11 have no contract at all, and we're actually saying excessive anarchy. We don't have salaries, we don't have contracts, but in fact all we have, we have union organisation, we're on strike almost all schools at the Pristina municipality level, and for this irregularities we're going to make responsibilities to Pristina municipality actors. They're saying they have to pay and they have to pay these workers with these salaries, they're saying they're miserable, so we can at least have the legal deadline to pay. These haven't done it and normal that we don't even make our services through all Pristina-level schools, he said.

Azem said the strike will continue until workers receive salaries in their bank accounts.

We don't intend to shoot anyone or fuck anyone. Our decision and our power is the strike, and this strike is very normal that will last until the wages are seen by our own eyes, otherwise we don't trust anyone. As the wages fall on our accounts, we'll be back to work. Therefore, we will continue on strike we are saying so daily and we will not perform any” service, he said.

He added that companies that have been contracted with the Pristina municipality already have no active contracts until they accused the municipality of not resolving the situation.
