Minister for Labour, Family and Values of Liberation War Andy Hoti has declared that the Law for the Values of Kosovo Liberation War will be prosecuted next week for approval in Government, before continuing later with further steps to the Assembly.
Hoti said this at today's Assembly session, announcing that the process has already started in the ministry and that the concept of law is being drafted, which according to him is near finalisation.
The Law on the Values of Kosovo Liberation War has only begun at the ministry. Because of procedures on how a law starts, we are drafting concept-document for the law that includes all that the law has to contain. It is close to finalisation, and next week it will be in the government for approval and then we will start with further procedures”, Hoti said.
Meanwhile, the KLA War Veterans' Organisation (OVL UÇK) has reacted by saying it is considering the announcement that the law is expected to be prosecuted in Government and later in the Assembly, but it has stressed that this “step is important, but that it is not enough”.
O V L The KLA has declared that for months, they have insisted on this issue through official letters to the Government, Parliamentary Assembly and Groups, activism of structures in branches, public statements and continued presence in the media, warning that further delays would provoke “after a harsher response”
The organisation requires that the process provide content, rather than symbolic, while in the final form the text of law ʹ according to them it should reflect the stated demands, protect the values of the Liberation War and ensure dignified recognition of any participating category.
Also, O V L KLA has made it known that it will follow the process with “full strategy” until final approval in the Assembly, stressing that “what was won through sacrifice cannot be dimmed, postponed or converted into material for political shopping”.
