Palestinians in the West Coast and Gaza began voting in municipal elections on Saturday, in the first vote since the war in Gaza, where political options are slim and frustration is great among the people.
About 1.5 million people are registered to vote in Israel's occupied West Coast, as well as 70,000 people in the Deir El-Balah area in Gaza, according to the Central Election Commission in Ramallah.
Most of the election lists are related to President Mahmud Abbas' secular nationalist party, or race as independent. There are no lists linked to Fatah's main rival Hamas, who controls almost half of Gaza's Belt.
