US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has stated that any additional mine deployment from Iran to the Hormuz Strait will be considered a violation of the US ceasefire.
He said that the passage to this strategic sea route “is developing much more limited than they would all wish for” and with greater risk due to, according to him, Iranian efforts to deploy mines.
“If there are attempts to deploy mines recklessly and irresponsiblely, we will react. This is violation of the” ceasefire, he told reporters at the Pentagon.
