Court Calls for Handover to Serb Charged for War Crimes in Kosovo

According to the announcement, the indictment was filed by the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo ( PPS.nr.65/2022), on December 23rd 2024, against accused Grujica Veljovic, with unknown residential address.

“The suspect is suspected of criminal activity “War crimes against the civilian population”, according to Article 142 concerning Article 22 of the Criminal Law of the former Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia. This work is currently incriminating as “crimes against humanity”, according to Article 143 paragraph 1 subparagraphers 1.6 and 1.7, concerning Article 31 of the Republic of Kosovo Penal Code”, the Pristina Foundation Court reportedly announced.

The court has made it known that, under the Special Prosecutor's Proposal, the trial in this case will be carried out in the absence of the accused, as he is unattainable to justice organs.

Through the communiqué, the court has called on accused Veljovic to appear and surrender to the bodies of the Kosovo Republic's prosecution. Also, it has been called on all persons who possess information about his whereabouts to inform Kosovo Police or other competent institutions.

The court's hearings will be held at the facility of the Hyvali Court of Justice under the Constitutional Court in Pristina on April 29, 2026 and April 30, 2026, starting at 09:30, at the D17 Hall. The trial process will be led by the chairman of the court, Confronting Shyti.

The court has also announced that the indictment and hearing invitations are published on the official page of the tribunal and the Official Journal of the Republic of Kosovo.
