Kosovo Parliament Speaker Albulen Haxhiu has yesterday announced that Konjufca has been nominated with the signatures of 30 deputies of the Vetevendosje Movement and the multiethnic group.
There may be requirements for extraordinary session, but the session for election of the president cannot have without at least two candidates. The election of the president should take place no later than 30 days before the end of the current president's mandate. The constitutional deadline is March 5, 2026. I invite all Kosovo Assembly deputies who have so far failed to give the signatures to reflect and consider the possibility of proposing at least another candidate”, Haxhi said at the media conference.
In the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, the constitutional point referring to the appointment of the president and the completion of the constitutional mandate is Article 86. Point 2 of this article says: “The election of the president of the Republic of Kosovo must take place no later than thirty days before the end of the current president's mandate. ”
Meanwhile, the current president, Vjosa Osmani, was elected president of the Republic of Kosovo on April 4th, 2021 by the Kosovo Assembly. It received votes in the third round of voting by the Parliament's deputies for a five-year term. /Periscopi/
