United States President Donald Trump has declared from the World Economic Forum in Davos that the US carries NATO's main financial burden and is therefore seeking full control over Greenland, including its title and ownership.
He stressed that the US cannot protect Greenland “leased”, arguing that territory has key strategic significance in the event of a global conflict.
Trump also announced plans to build an advanced defence system in Greenland, a system that, he said, will also serve Canada's defence.
