Paolo Maldini and Leonardo leave the Italian Football Federation only 16 days after their appointment

The withdrawal of the Italian Football Federation from Andrea Pirlo's appointment as a coach has led Italian representative Paolo Maldini's technical director and adviser Leonardo to resign.

“Sky Sports” confirmed the big news Monday.

Federation President Giovanni Malago is expected to already believe Italy's bench exactly Roberto Mancini, while Paolo Maldin's position as technical director will be taken by Giorgio Chillini.

Maldini and Leonardo accepted office in the Italian Football Federation only in the event they decided for the new coach. Pep Guardilla and Carlo Anceplott refused, while the deal reached with Andrea Pirlon was cancelled by the Federation's president of Pirlos' previous ties with Russian betting companies.

This breach of the agreement caused Maldini and Leonardo to leave their post only 16 days after their appointment.
