Trump said you'll find out how far it's going to get to Greenland before leaving for Davos

During a surprise presentation in the White House conference room Tuesday, US President Donald Trump said only “would find out” when asked how far he was willing to go to invade Greenland. At the same time, Trump remained convinced that NATO allies “will find [...]

At the same time, Trump remained convinced that NATO allies “will find something” before his departure for the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

“I think we will find something where NATO will be very happy and where we will be very happy”, he said, without giving specific details, it broadcasts the Telegrafi.

“We have many planned meetings for Greenland and I think things will go quite well”, Trump told reporters about his meetings in Davos.

His comments came despite the determined determination of European leaders to defend Danish territory in recent days.

Over the weekend, Trump promised new tariffs for European countries, including Britain, France and Germany, which sent troops to Greenland in solidarity.

He dismissed suggestions that a deal was at stake last year with the EU in which allies promised to increase investments in the United States, saying “They desperately need that agreement with us”.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen rejected Trump's threats, pledging that the EU's response “would be steadfast, united and proportional”, while speaking in Davos on Tuesday.

Maintaining stronger stances challenged the approach many European leaders have offered since Trump returned to office, primarily reassuring the president to try to stay in his favor while working furiously in other ways to find compromise.

Trump says the US needs Greenland to prevent possible threats from China and Russia. But his persistent insistence in recent weeks that everything except Greenland's ownership by the United States is unacceptable is testing the limits of the softest strategy.

Meanwhile, Trump's plane Air Force One returned to Andrews base about an hour after leaving for Switzerland on Tuesday evening.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavet said the decision to return was made after the establishment of the crew aboard Air Force One identified “a small electrical problem” and, by a large measure of care, decided to return.

A journalist on board said the lights in the plane's press booth were shut down shortly after the establishment, but no explanation was immediately offered. About half an hour after the flight left, reporters were told that the plane would return.
