Over 120 drivers under alcohol influence during 10 days in Gjakova, police issue 1580 fines

Kosovo police have announced that the Regional Road Communications Unit in Gjakova has intensified traffic controls over the last 10 days under operational plans “Alcooli” and “Vera 2026”, aimed at increasing road safety and preventing accidents.
According to the report, a total of 1,892 alcohol-tests were conducted during this period, while 123 drivers have resulted in driving under the influence of alcohol. Defence measures of patent-scoring have been applied to them, according to legal procedures.
In addition, police officials have stated 1,580 fines for various violations of traffic regulations, including uncertain overcomings, speeding, telephone use during driving, failure to set helmets and other offenses.
Under the implementation of the operating plan “North 2026”, police have identified two cases of narcotics possession, as well as one case of illegal weapons.
Gjakova's regional police have called on all communications participants to respect traffic regulations, stressing that street care and accountability are essential for preventing accidents and increasing security for all.
