Mortar remains identified by a man from Gjakova who had disappeared during the war

Government Commission Co-ordinator for Missing Persons has reportedly identified a victim by Gjakova, whose mortar remains were found years ago on the banks of the Drini White River, near Krusha e Vogel, but which has been identified as Rasim Koci, citizen of Gjakova who was registered on the list of undiscovered.

“Mortories were found years ago on the banks of the Drini White River, near Krusha e Vogel. The identification of Rasim Koci, the victim of war that was on the list of missing persons, has recently been made possible through scientific DNA analysis, as a result of the detailed reexamination process of mortar waste found at the (IML) ” Institute of Legal Medicine, Gara has announced.

The news has also revealed to his family through a Facebook post in which Rasim Koci was reportedly arrested in April 1999 by Serb forces, later killed and his body disappeared. His mortar remains will be delivered to the family on January 30th, Time announces.

“After 26 years and 10 months of waiting, Rasim's lifeless body Mehmet Koci (born in 1957) has been found, which had disappeared on April 1, 1999, in the vicinity of the village of Oek Hyla, during the war in Kosovo. According to family members, Rasim Mehmet Koci was arrested by Serbian forces, later killed and his body disappeared. After about 27 years of anxiety and uncertainty, its morto remains have been identified and will be handed over to the family on Friday, January 30, 2026<1>, the family report said./Periscopi/
