Between Kurt's Deceptions and Green Ultimatum: What should Kosovo do?

I never liked the public lies of Albin Kurt.

He has built a political narrator where reality often distorts to suit his interests.

This approach has brought Kosovo much harm, creating an illusion for international relations and presenting itself as a leader of noncompromer, when in fact inevitable compromises have always been made at the expense of the country.

But as much as I am concerned with Kurt's lies, I am troubled by Richard Green's extremely undiplomatic language.

He is no longer speaking as an ex-misar or as an analyst, but as the weightiest man of the Trump administration for the Balkans, and his statements are not just criticism, they are a clear warning to Kosovo.

We as citizens are here and we must face reality.

What does that mean for Kosovo? Should the people fear this harsh tone and punish Kurt by vote? Or should I challenge Trump administration and reject that kind of pressure?

At such a moment, when a U.S. superpower is putting Kosovo ahead of a difficult test, what should a citizen do that will vote tomorrow?

That is the essence of the great dilemma in which Kosovo is present.

The statement of Richard Granelli, the strongest man in the Trump Administration for the Balkans, is a strong diplomatic slap on Albin Kurti and an alarm signal for Kosovo.

At the peak of the election campaign, Kurti declared that relations with the United States are good, but Grenelli dropped that claim within hours with a clear and dangerous warning.

Richard Green, the Special Emissar of Trump for the Balkans and the man with the greatest weight in American politics for the region, is publicly declaring Kurti's government as incredible and unacceptable to the United States.

With that stance, he not only denies Kurti's claims of good relations with Washington but also places Kosovo in a dangerous geopolitical position.

In his powerful statement, Green openly accuse Kurt of unilateral acts destabilizing the region and of refusing co-operation with the US, NATO and the EU.

This is a clear message that the US has lost patience and no longer views Kurt as a reliable partner.

With Trump already in the White House and Green as its most powerful voice for the Balkans, Kosovo risks staying out of US strategic projects and facing diplomatic and economic isolation.

Green said it clearly: US investments are going to Albania and Serbia, but not to Kosovo, because of Kurti's policies.

This statement shows that the US will no longer tolerate refusing signed agreements, lack of co-operation in strategic issues and Kurti's confrontational approach to dialogue with Serbia.

The message is firm: either Kosovo will co-operate with the US or face serious consequences.

Green has not forgotten that Kurt challenged him openly during Trump's first mandate, bringing down agreements brokered by the US administration and rejecting Washington's plans for the Balkans.

Now that the Republicans have returned to power, Green is making it clear that there will be no tolerance for a government that is not in line with American politics.

This is not just Green's personal attitude but an official position of the Trump Administration.

If Kosovo continues to be led by a leader that Washington does not consider a reliable partner, then historical relations between the two countries can enter the worst crisis ever.

There is no more room left for Kurt to maneuver.

With an American administration viewing it as a problem and with a more powerful trumpet emissary openly declaring it unbelievable, Kosovo is on the verge of imminent diplomatic isolation.

If Kurt doesn't change course and refuses to co-operate in line with the new US policy, then there may be strong diplomatic and economic pressure that could bring his government down sooner than he thinks.

It will not be the first time the US uses strong mechanisms to remove a leader that does not suit its interests.

Grenelli's message is clear and uncompromous: The US will no longer accept a government led by Kurti.

Kosovo is ahead of a critical moment: either choose the path to co-operation with the biggest ally, or face isolation and the consequences of a clash with the Trump administration.
