The European Parliament's rapporteur on the issue of lifting the visa regime also for Kosovo Serbs, who are equipped with passports “kordinacija”, Matjaz Nemec, has spoken in an interview for Kosovo Online about where the process is located and what is expected next few days.
According to Nemec, this issue is expected to get epilogue quickly due to too limited time as a result of the European Union elections, which will be held on 9 June.
He has said he is willing to approve the proposal for visa waivers, yet he points out that this depends also on the position of other groups in the European Parliament.
The report should first be discussed within the European Parliament on 12 March, the deadline for submitting amendments is 15 March, while the European Parliament Commission for Civil Freedoms, Justice and Home Affairs will vote on 8 April, the Express broadcasts.
“We received the support of all groups to do so in an extremely short period of high speed, in order to approve the proposal at the last session in April. I hope that by the end of April we will receive the necessary support in Strasbourg”, Nemec said.
