The US temporarily suspends sanctions on Iranian oil after"productive conversations"

The Trump administration is temporarily suspending sanctions on the sale of Iranian oil, thus fulfilling one of the main commitments undertaken in its extended ceasefire agreement, according to The New York Times.
The 60-day expulsion released on Monday came shortly after weekend negotiations in Switzerland between the US and Iran, which US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent named “productive talks”.
“Iran is committed to a free and open transit into the Hormuz Strait and to allowing inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at home”, Bessent wrote in a post on the X network. “As part of this framework, the Treasury has issued a 60-day interim general license authorising the production, transport and sale of Iranian oil. ”
This exception allows Iran to sell and transport oil without sanctions by 10:01 on 21 August to almost every country worldwide, including the United States.
