Through a text on Twitter, Mendez said that Serbian President Akanddar Vuciq (then prime minister) promised “justice”, but no one was followed.
He said Serbia should fully investigate and hold those behind these terrible crimes responsible.
“24 years ago, American brothers and citizens Star, Agron and Mehmet Bytyqi were ruthlessly executed in Serbian custody. President Vuciq (then Prime Minister) promised “justice”, but none were followed. Serbia must fully investigate and hold those behind these horrific crimes” responsible, he has written on Twitter.
On June 23rd 1999, three Albanian brothers had launched a very human initiative: to escort a Roma family from Prizren towards the border with Serbia, which was heading towards Kralev.
During this trip, the three crossed the border, for which they were arrested by Serbian police, and were sentenced by the Prokuple Anticrime Court to 15 days in prison.
When the sentence was complete, the three brothers -- Bytyqi, Star, Agroni and Mehmeti -- were sent to a Serbian police training base, where they were shot in the back of their heads and destroyed their tracks.
Their troops were found in 2001 in a mass cemetery in Petrovo Selo, near the town of Kladovo, along with other Albanians killed by Serb forces during the war in Kosovo.
24 years agos ago, brothers and US citizens Star, Agron, and Mehmet Bytyqi were relatively excited in Serbian custody.
President Vucic (then Prime Minister) promised <x0 Justice,” but none followed.
Serbia must really investigate and hold account those behind these poisons. https://t.co/FqApLulY
