According to Hoxha, the government led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti misreaded the situation and, as he has said, by actions in the north damaged Kosovo's international image.
Kosovo has had a good chance to co-ordinate the agenda with international partners in this context [at the start of the war in Ukraine. Kosovo's international image has also changed since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. The trouble with the West starts with what we in Kosovo consider domestic issues. The first was the issue of the license plates, which he later withdrew”, said Hoxha in the interactive “” of KTV.
“Indications show there is a misreading of the situation by the Kurti Government. Since last year's story [when the license issue started] and so far, Kosovo has taken zero advantage of this issue, and Kosovo's international agenda has only stalled and moved back. The greatest punitive measure against Kosovo is political -- that is, the damage to image” -- it has added.
According to him, Kurti in the dialogue lacks “the diplomatic technology of rejection”.
Hoxha has estimated that actions taken by Kurti Government in the north may be legal and necessary, but has questioned whether they are in Kosovo's interest.
“Actions in the north may be legitimate and necessary, but it is Kosovo's interest to be those actions as undertaken... It's a big question. There are also smugglers in the south, not just in the north. The extent of sovereignty in the north should be in terms of Kosovo's interest. Kosovo's interest is to co-ordinate actions with the US and the EU”, the legalist has stressed.
Until Albin Kurti is in power in Kosovo and Aleksandar Vuciq in Serbia, Hoxha has said the final agreement is not even on the horizon.
