The first to have managed to unite the West against a single country in the Balkans has been Slobodan Milosevic. His endless efforts to divide the West around Kosovo, and especially his belief that by ruling an inoctrinated people against the West, he would emerge, end with Kosovo's defeat in June 1999, after 76 days of bombing.

Kosovo became free and independent, thanks to its folly as well.

The second after Milosevic has joined the West against him is Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin's autcrat in the coldness of an conqueror has attacked Ukraine, annexed part of its territory, and is continuing to resist the West, hoping to tire it out, divide it, and finally triumph.

What is happening in Ukraine, not only as aggression, but as a precedent for attack on a sovereign country, it threatens to break down the new world order if accepted and not fought to the end. NATO, the European Union, the US and all Western institutions, including the countries aspiring to the European Union, are in a major international coalition helping Ukraine, determined to stay until the end.

The third, which has unbelievablely opposed 27 European Union, US, NATO and UN countries, is Albin Kurti. He has placed Kosovo in a humiliating international position, to which international sanctions begin on Friday, just as once against Milosevich, and today against Putin.

But as it took 76 days of bombing for the first, billions of euros and hundreds of thousands killed to defeat it, it takes only one Western decision to erase it from the face of history, placing major questions about Kosovo's fate.

Kosovo is a state that has gained independence thanks to these 27 European and US states. It is still not accepted in the UN, and the reason Kosovo's independence has been recognised is that it will be a republic of citizens and will help stability in the region.

The moment Albin Kurti has made Kosovo a hotbed of ethnic unrest, acting unilaterally without co-ordinating with the US and the European Union, he has returned to Kosovo the security mechanisms of UN Resolution 1244 and June 10, 1999, alluding to the preservation of security and stability in Kosovo by international forces.

After Friday, Kosovo is no longer in the hands of Albin Kurti, but in the hands of those who freed Kosovo and the reasons for which they freed it.

He has two days to save himself, not Kosovo. Kosovo has suffered a maximum injury that Milosevic and no other enemy could. If humored Albanians often say that Milosevich should be made a bust in Kosovo for “meries” that he has for Kosovo freedom, Serbs should also raise Albin Kurti a bust in Belgrade for the merits he has in their fight against Kosovo.

Now, fortunately, Kosovo's future is in the hands of its deliverers. Kosovo Albanians must choose among these deliverers who succeeded Milosevich, and Albin Kurti, who is returning Milosevic's dream to the region.
