“Against The Hague

Thousands of Kosovo citizens joined the call for a “Justice Marriage”, a manifestation of solidarity with the four leaders of the former Kosovo Liberation Army, located in custody in The Hague, by the Special Court. Although the march appears to be a sign of political demonstration against delays and international justice approach to the four former leaders [...]
Even though the march appears to be a sign of a political demonstration against delays and the approach of international justice to the four former KLA leaders, it actually turned into a political debate between the government and opposition supporters.
And there were some clear signs that demonstrators had more with the government than with international justice.
Protesters seemed more motivated against the government of Prime Minister Kurti for a series of positions of this government towards the history of their arrest and demonstration during the process.
The arrest, which took place days before Hashim Thaci was signed in Washington in the presence of President Trump agreement with Serbia, was covered by a shadow of conspiracy and mutual accusations of treason by Albin Kurti, at the time brought down by the government, for which the US blamed.
Before and after his arrest, Kurti has testified to an ignoring attitude towards Thaci's role in the KLA, has shown uncooperative to facilitate the prison's move against him, giving evidence on government ways that Thaci has control over the police and army in Kosovo and then has then normally tried to exploit the political vacuum left by them to gain power in Kosovo.
This has sparked the start of anger against him by those in opposition today and that he has accused them for 20 years of being Kosovo's traitors.
But now anger is double, as Albin Kurti himself has been attracted by every principle and attitude through which he has come to power by analyzing opponents as traitors and has signed everything that has approached him from the Franco-German plan, which is a step forward in solving the problem between Kosovo and Serbia, but not a final plan.
Kurti, who has accused Thaci and his associates of every step towards dialogue, now after taking power in the vacuum created by the removal of the task at The Hague, is practically a certificate of any international Kosovo document, viewed by the opposition simply as a fraud who sent opponents to prison accusing them of being traitor and took power.
That's why protesters were more than with The Hague.
The march is widely viewed as an anti-government test, both from the point of view of participation. The debate on the figures was clearly developed between government and opposition supporters, which reflected the government's nervousness towards the protest and especially its size.
It doesn't matter who was right about the figures, but the fact that the debate developed between the known supporters of Kurti and the opposition shows that the opposition itself viewed the protest as a manifestation against it.
Although in recent moments some voices by the government supported the protest not to be perceived as a reaction to them, those in the square seemed to be the seat of the government as the tribunal's headquarters in The Hague.
