European Union special envoy Miroslav Lajcak met with the country's president, Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, on Thursday to discuss the European Proposal to normalise Kosovo-Serbia reports.
Lajcak's meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti called it constructive, important and very productive, until in a statement before journalists stressed that his expectations at meeting with the first executive have been fulfilled as regards how Kosovo views implementation of the European Proposal Plan for the normalisation of relations agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
“With Prime Minister Kurti we had a constructive, very important and helpful conversation. I also met with President Osmani, with whom I had a conversation and will also meet with opposition leaders and the international community. The main purpose of this visit is to receive information about how Kosovo sees implementation, and this meeting has met my expectations in this context”, Lajcak has stressed.
Lajcak said that if both sides agree, the agreement is expected to be signed on March 18th.
The EU envoy in an interview for “Context” on ATV has also talked about the issue of association.
He said Prime Minister Kurti has given 15 European models for Association, which models have not led to malfunction in states.
Lajcak said it is time to change the power from Kurti and that instead of saying what should not be the Association, to be seen as an opportunity to improve the quality in communication between the Government and the Kosovo Serbs.
I understand this is a sensitive issue in Kosovo for Mr. Kurti. But it's time to change the gear. And instead of saying what should not be the association, it should be seen as an opportunity to strengthen and improve the quality of communication between the government in Pristina and Kosovo Serbs, and also to have transparency in relations between Kosovo Serbs and Serbia, in line with existing norms, European standards and models.
