First we need to understand that we don't have, as much as we do, energy generation capacity. The energy system is old from the '60s and based on coal.
Recently, several private wind and solar energy projects have developed. We have failed for 23 years to create power generation capacities, even though there have been initiatives.
Some scientists develop and emancipate societies measure with their capacity to generate the energy they need and their source.
The foundation, the foundation, of the bill problem is our lack of energy capacity. Then comes import, trade. We, as we depend on the outside, have to buy the electricity more expensive than we ever did ourselves! This problem is not just energy, but is also Kosovo's biggest economic problem. Our economic structure is based on chronic import, where each year we have negative balance on goods that catch about -50% of GDP/PBV.
We lose half the sweat of businesses and entrepreneurs because of inadequate management of the economy. The current is not another cure, it's a behavior of ours about the very important processes for our society and our country that must change in the years to come.
Consequently, because you depend on the outside, the cost of electricity depends. As a result, we sometimes have increased electricity prices within 2-3 years. The high tariff when passing 800kw has risen from 6.75 cents to 12.5, ultimately to 14.7 cents in April 2023. If we had increased our capabilities during the postwar period, let's say 2-3 GW, today probably cost was 10 cents, probably cheaper.
KEDS is not stealing or can't even air the bills. They're just applying what our energy regulator has approved. They don't need manipulu anymore that even the system is digital and you see everything. Big companies don't steal like thieves, they lobby for their interests in policymakers and recipient decisions.
We're the ones who privatized the distribution system for some peanuts. We're also the ones who haven't created new power capacities. Our regulators are the ones who define bill prices.
We must learn from this experience and these facts that then a better future. Each unexpered society prepared, but mistakes should not be repeated and we must learn things so that we can do better in the future.
We have to hurry with new generation capacity. These make the sector private, institutions we just need to manage well and not be corrupt. We need to liberalize the distribution market. Monopolis brings higher prices. We need to start a revolution of pure energy, with electric machines that are essential to public health, that we have the air to death.
There are many good things we need to do, but we have to move on. Especially should we be taught to prevent bad things. When the regulator made the decision to expensive the current, 11.8% for two years, few who react did not protest. Now when the bills came, we're all unhappy. We have much to learn from our behaviors and realities.
