The northern Macedonia Parliament has approved today 68 votes for the French proposal that paves the way for negotiations on membership of RMV and Albania in the EU. Macedonian opposition MPs have already rejected the proposal, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has enjoyed the approval, saying there are more obstacles to the road to the EU of these two states. EU leaders have welcomed the vote and have warned that next week they formally open negotiations.
The French proposal envisions overcoming differences between Skopje and Sofia regarding the Macedonian language, identity and historical past, while the Bulgarian side seeks from the Macedonian side to include the Bulgarian minority in the pre-mix of the Constitution as equal to other peoples.
