As reported, Marcelo Pecci, 45, was shot dead in front of his wife Claudia Agililera in Isla Barú outside the Caribbean city of Cartagena on Tuesday.
The execution took place a few moments after Agililera, who worked for the Unical television network, and Pekci, who fought against drug cartels, announced that they were expecting a child.
The couple from Paraguay had just posted a picture in the Instagram where they were embraced.
Aguilera told lawmakers the Colombian lawmakers that the two suspects approached them on the beach at the Decameron Hotel and said not a word before one of them shot Pekiki, once on the face and once on the back.
Colombian authorities have offered a reward of 2 billion pesos -- approximately 440,000 euros -- for information leading to the capture of the suspected individual.
Police chief General Jorge Luis Vargas told the media that Pecci's murder would most likely be linked to his prosecution of high-profile money laundering and drug trafficking cases in Paraguay.
