The cases of services being conducted in various businesses with counterfeit money have increased. Hundreds of thousands of euros allegedly forged are continuing to be placed daily on the Kosovo market. Such a case occurred yesterday to a former “Extreme Pizza” in Pristina, which has accepted from a client a 500-euro bill allegedly forged.
The case was reported to the police station “Yugu”, where the worker has declared that 500 euros had been accepted by 3 people after sending a message to the “Kadri Halimi”, in Pristina.
It seems that this is a new approach to bringing counterfeit money into circulation, since the order the three people have received has cost close to 80 euros and the worker has had to return over 400 euros to suspects.
At the time of the payment, the worker S'e noticed that the money may be forged, but after the banknote was tested on the camera, it resulted in counterfeiting.
But this is not the only case reported to the police for counterfeit money. Even a bank official NLB in Drenas has announced police have accepted a 100-euro bill allegedly forged. The police unit has seized the money while the case has been initiated.
According to signal sources, the quality of the fake money being put into circulation is too high that it is difficult to detect without the appropriate device.
The counterfeiting of money is a criminal offence and is sanctioned according to the Republic of Kosovo's Penal Code. Anyone who produces counterfeit money in order to bring them into circulation is sentenced to prison for one to ten years.
