Levis said his state supports Kosovo not only in NATO membership, but in all international organisations, saying Kosovo, as a democratic state, belongs to Europe.
The Latvian president, unlike the EU's stance that the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue presents as Kosovo's only path to its integration, said that if this process is stalled, the integration process should be stalled.
“I have seen some different problems about dialogue, I hope that these talks will still progress, but if we do not have great progress, it should be an obstacle for Kosovo in the direction and other reports. Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is important, but even if there is progress, there are other ways that Kosovo can integrate further into European frameworks”.
Levtis said it is important that Kosovo membership the Council of Europe and said they would welcome its application. He also said Latvia supports Kosovo on visa liberalisation and added that there are currently no reasonable obstacles for Kosovo not to be granted liberalisation.
Kosovo belongs to Europe and we hope that both Kosovo and Latvia will end up in full integration into all European forums and organisations”.
