Republic of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani- Sadriu has met with Kosovo's great supporter, John Kerry, envoy of the United States Presidency for Climate Affairs and former Secretary of State. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diasporas Donika Gervalla-Schwarz also attended the meeting.
President Osmani has thanked Kerry for his personal commitment and commitment to helping Kosovo and its people move forward so that today they can enjoy unique and unbreakable relations with the United States.
According to a presidency communique, the president and Kerry also discussed developments in Europe and the region as a result of Russian aggression in Ukraine and cited efforts by the Republic of Kosovo to come to the aid of the Ukrainian people. It stressed the risk of destabilising the region by Russia's satellites and the need for Kosovo's NATO membership as the best competition for peace and stability in the region. It has praised continued US support for empowering Kosovo's role in the international arena, noting that it is now even more important to increase support in the process of recognition and membership in international organisations.
Wishing Kerry in his new role as President Biden's special envoy for climate change, Osmani has estimated that addressing the direct effects of climate change requires access and transformational leadership.
Despite local and global policies, climate change will not stop happening. It's one of the most serious challenges of our time. Speaking of climate change is not a luxury, but a matter of existence to ensure the lives of our children. Kosovo is not immune to the effects of climate change. Therefore, Kosovo rightly wants to be part of global initiatives to combat climate change” the president has said.
