France pledges 500m euros in financing for tribunal to investigate war crimes in Ukraine

The French Foreign Ministry has promised 500,000 euros in financing for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to support the investigation of crimes committed in Ukraine, it said in a statement Wednesday. France will also provide magistrates, investigators and experts, “to ensure that the prosecutor can lead his investigation in the most [ ...] conditions.

The statement added that French Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti will encourage other states to step up their support of the ICC at a meeting of justice ministers in The Hague on Thursday.
The ICC opened an investigation on March 2nd into alleged crimes committed in the context of the situation in Ukraine since November 21st 2013, when hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians took to the streets of Kiev to protest the turn of former President Viktor Januukovic on a trade pact with the European Union that had been developing years.
The American government officially said Wednesday that members of the Russian armed forces have committed war crimes in Ukraine, CNN, broadcast Gazeta Express.
“Today, I can report that, given the information we currently have, the US government estimates that members of Russian forces committed war crimes in Ukraine”, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
