“This is the culture of memory in the wrong way!”, wrote the German ambassador on Twitter, calling not to distort the truth about the Holocaust.
“Very concerned about the plans to restore Xhafer Deva's home, a prominent Nazi associate/protagonist Skenderbeg Div. The dawn of history! Do not distort the truth about the Holocaust or war crimes committed by the Nazis and local collaborators #Mbro Pages”, Rohde wrote.
The “Memory Box and preservation of cultural heritage should be taken as an opportunity to deal with the past in an open and true way. The German Embassy is ready to support any reasonable approach to the culture of memory in Kosovo”, the German ambassador has added.
On February 2nd, the Ministry of Culture announced the beginning of the restoration of Xhafer Deva's home.
“During yesterday's day began restoration works at the House of Xhafer Deva, a house built in 1930 in the old city center by Austrian architects and workers. Xhaferra Deva's house has exceptional social, cultural, historical and architectural value for the entire region”, the MKRS report said.
The project is set to be completed by the end of this year.
