What is Havana Syndrome: The mysterious disease affecting only American diplomats

Four American diplomats working in Geneva and Paris are sick with neurologic disease known as “Havana Syndrome”

US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken Said the American government is working to find the essence of this mystery. He said they're suddenly named “from new cases”.

There is fear that any opponent or enemy may have targeted American diplomats through radiation. Blinken said the issue has been discussed with Russia, but has not reached any conclusions.

Some 200 people have been affected by this disease since 2016.

Blinken let you know has talked to workers who have described the disease and the way their lives have changed and said people are “directly and powerful”.

So far we don't know what happened, and we don't know exactly who's responsible. We are constantly working on understanding what happened”, Blinken said.

What is “Havana syndrome”?

Disease It causes symptoms such as vertigo, mixture, migraine, and memory loss.

It's called “Havana syndrome” because it first appeared at the U.S. Embassy in Havana in 2016. The disease has affected American diplomats, spies and family members, as well as a number of Canadian diplomatic staff engaged in Cuba.

In years later, dozens of new cases have been reported to US diplomatic facilities in China, Russia, Europe and Central Asia.

American officials are not sure who or exactly is behind the syndrome, but it is suspected that it is an attack through radio frequency or energy.

Some people who have experienced syndrome have faced intoxication and fatigue for months.

Russia, China and the United States themselves have said they have done research on microwaves for military purposes, but Moscow has dismissed allegations that it used <x0 mic> with microwave” against American missions.

CIA is investigating “Havana Syndrome”

Director CIA, William Burns, in July 2021, said the agency has stepped up efforts to determine the cause of this mysterious state of health.

Since then, the US president's administration, Joe Biden, has been investigating reports of dozens of intelligence officers, diplomats and other officials in Vienna who have complained about symptoms similar to those of Havana Syndrome.

Burns had said there was a “Very big opportunity” for symptoms to be caused deliberately.

He said he has appointed a senior officer to lead a task-force, investigating syndrome.

I am absolutely determined to find the answer to what and who causes this”, Burns said.

He said about half of the 200 American officials and affected family members are CIA officers or their relatives.
