EU Policy and Foreign Security spokesman Peter Stano, at a news conference, said Lajcak will meet with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, and will then talk to the Kosovo side about the government's recent decision on license plates.
The EU's special representative for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, has already arrived in Belgrade and at the meeting with President Vuciq this afternoon, will address the situation, and in a few hours he will speak with Kosovo's political leadership to address the issue”, Stano said.
He said tensions should stop both sides and said dialogue should be used to resolve such disputes.
We are monitoring the situation closely and I want to highlight freedom of movement is a fundamental condition of the EU, and we expect that from Kosovo and Serbia to promote it. We call on both sides to refrain and reduce tensions. Immediately and without delay”, Stano has declared himself.
The column of banned vehicles has passed the kiloometry at the Jarinje border point, while Kosovo police are not allowing any cars leaving Serbia towards Kosovo to pass to the border points without being equipped with temporary license plates of the Republic of Kosovo.
The decision on this is signed today by Kosovo Interior Minister Jelal Svecla.
Meanwhile, part of cars entering from Serbia to Kosovo at the border points are being placed on temporary billboards.
Today's morning, the Kosovo Police Specialised Units have been deployed at the Kosovo border point in Jarinje. Dozens of Kosovo Police have gone there to ensure the implementation of the government's latest decision.
