Presenting before Serbia's Parliament the report on dialogue with Kosovo, Vuciq said Serbs in Kosovo want negotiations to be held so that any compromise solution can be reached in the future.
When you ask me what compromise is, I will say: I don't know”, Vuciq said before Serbian lawmakers.
He estimated that the Western “powers will not change their attitude towards Kosovo” and that they “will agree to an independent Kosovo at any cost”.
“We have no easy task and time for festive humor, nor time for too much waiting, but time to face the reality surrounding us”, Vuciq said.
Vuciq said the dialogue with Kosovo is “transparent” and that claims that “Someone is hiding something somewhere and is trying to deceive the public” are “lieters”.
“Dialogue is the only possible option until a compromise with Albanians is reached. We have consistently informed representatives of the European Union that we have fulfilled nearly everything from the Brussels Agreement. The rest is details that we're ready to fulfill. Albanians are not ready to meet what has been agreed on”, Vuciq said.
For a first date with Kurt
Vuciq also spoke to Serbian deputies about his first meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who took place 15 June in Brussels.
“For Kurti, the only topic has been: when will we recognise Kosovo's independence?”, Vuciq said. The answer, according to him, was: “Never”.
“The situation is much harder and more serious both for us and for them... A compromise solution is something we need to ask for”, Vuciq told Serbia's Parliament deputies.
What is said in the Kosovo report?
Vuciqi's report for MPs refers to the course of Serbia's dialogue with Kosovo from May 2019 to June 15th, 2021.
Presenting it, Vuciq said that during 2020 and 2021, Serbia has given Serbs in Kosovo “more than 750 million, even 800m euros”, while counting Serbia's investments in Kosovo's majority Serb municipalities.
Vuciq cited building schools, hospitals and residences, as well as investments in Serb Orthodox Church churches and monasteries.
He said Serbia has failed to change the trend of migration of Serbs from Kosovo, who, “in search of a better life and greater security”, pass to live in Serbia.
The latest paper on dialogue with Kosovo, Vuciq has presented it at Serbia's Assembly in May 2019.
This has been the first time Vuciq has submitted a report on Kosovo since his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) took power in 2012.
Since presenting this report, parliamentary elections have been held in Serbia in June 2020, and the composition of Parliament has changed.
Part of the opposition has boycotted these elections, and the ruling coalition led by Vuciqi's Serbian Progressive Party has 243 out of the total 250 seats in Parliament.
Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has started in 2011, and its goal is to reach an agreement binding on normalising relations between the two countries.
Dialogue is shared by the European Union and supported by the United States.
