KEDS is continuing to invest strongly in the extent of the underground network across the country. To date, over 28m euros have been invested in underground networks in 7 districts under more than 140 KED projects.
Currently, most city centres are underground, until the KED's goal is to include all of Kosovo within a short future. These investments are being made in co-operation with municipalities as well.
With the power grid extended underground, KEDS is creating new energy infrastructure until hundreds of pillars are leaving, turning the right view of tourist areas, city centres and historical sites.
The creation of new infrastructure is making once and for all a solution to the extraordinary network that KEDS has inherited. Thus, capacities are increasing by increasing the security of the sustainable and quantitative energy supply and are being replaced by hundreds of miles of cable.
Alternative lines are also being developed through these underground investments, which will enable alternative supplies in case of avarie. This because if an exit of that line is in failure, the supply immediately passes to the alternative exit and the consumer is not faced with power outages.
KEDS for eight years of operation in Kosovo has invested over 170m euros in network modernisation. Investments into the electricity network are continuing every day throughout Kosovo, showing the company's commitment to fulfilling promises and the determination to get closer to the consumer.
