Democratic Party of Kosovo, its challenges today

The slogan of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) in the February 14th 2021 parliamentary elections was “Regeneration”. As a general spirit, Kosovo, as never before, needed standing up, both on the domestic and international plains. The election results showed that the PDK emerged with the worst result in its history, with 17 per cent and a total of 19 representatives in the Kosovo Assembly. So the PDK, intended to restore Kosovo in all areas, received a valuable lecture. She must recover herself, she must rise again to her feet after falling, kneeling.

In the book “Making Modern War” General Wesley K. Clark quotes another American General Douglas MacArthur as saying that American officers during education and in life serve as motivation and instruction: “There is only one message, one idea, written in red in every principle, from Australia to Tokyo: there is no substitute for victory.” So the objective of any action must be to realise the goal, to achieve victory. Victory is the name of victory. So losing any kind and any scale is never a victory. The PDK has experienced the taste of defeat, so it has not achieved victory, and now twice, on October 6, 2019 and February 14, 2021, experienced defeat.

Although defeat is never a victory, in the case of the PDK we should recall the loss of the 2000 local elections, the loss of the 2001 parliamentary elections, as well as the loss of the 2004 elections. From 2004 until the November 17th 2007 elections win, there are three years during which philosophy and the PDK's winning strategy were developed, both by local and parliamentary elections. This victory cannot be explained with LDK sharing with the LDD faction. Even when LDD returns to LDK, the PDK until the 2014 elections emerged the first political force. To become a winning party, The PDK and its leader Hashim Thaci were forced to understand an important lecture about the necessity of opening the party, introducing new thought and blood, which in our lexic and political terminology entered as the syntagm: “the new results of”.

At the time of the PDK government, Kosovo's road infrastructure modernisation took place, the establishment of school infrastructure capacities, the establishment of institutions rounding up Kosovo's citizenship, wage raising, membership in key international organisations, etc. These achieved are the untenable and unforgettable legacy of the PDK and its partners. Within a ten-year period, the PDK was a political party. There are historical, material, tangible achievements within this period, just as there are faults, impasses, and stalemates, with no fault of its own. Being in power, along with successes, runs parallel with its own phenomenon of consumption and falling into the routine lock. Like all human society, ours is constantly seeking updates, stirring impulses, new ideas, plans, projects, prospects, and new horizons.

Fear of consumption and paying a long power bill for PDK begins very much with the creation of bloc V LAN, 2014. Since the establishment of VLAN, Kosovo has entered the vicious circle of stalemate and degradation as state and political. I guess. PDK now? It is easy to describe the PDK situation. The most tragic and delicate side of the PDK is the fact that its leader is in The Hague prison completely unjustly. From there it is impossible to contribute to the leadership and maintenance of the party. Between this fact and daily life, the PDK must react as a political subject. Its current governing structure is in the face of moral scruples and equally moral barriers. How to Turn The PDK in this new circumstance without creating misunderstandings that in the hands of the remaining leaders, there is no changing course (direction) and the diskhurs (political philosophy), leaving the impression that any action aside is not understood and considered “definition by leaders under arrest. As such, Today's PDK is in front of itself. As such The PDK must have a unity of purpose, an address and a decision-making centre. Despite external domestic and international shocks, despite errors of defects it must show that it has power, vision and stability. So, PDK must have precise address to success, glory but also to consistency

Today's PDK only when it courageously faces itself shows the ability to reform and recovery. The PDK after the 6 October 2019 elections has passed into opposition injured by the resolution with its wide electorate. The PDK has separated from the citizen who several times in the election gave him support. In his memory the electorate, but also the citizen generally recorded one of his mistakes and shortcomings. Wrong coalitions and philosophy that you must remain in power, accepting and proving all calculations make you in power with the substance exposed. This thind substance one day slips out of hand. The PDK must approach the voice of its citizen, listen to him, apologize and prove that he can become his hope. If we take a retrospect step, The PDK in the 2001 opposition period HINA 2007 has been in opposition, but has not been injured in relations with its citizen. It was a response of pride and dignity. Meanwhile, today the PDK after 11 years of being in position, dignity and pride has hurt it as a result of being abandoned by thousands of citizens.

Today's leading PDK structure should be aware of the useful lecture the electorate gave him, especially on February 14, 2021. It is neither easy to be at the top of a falling subject and gradual deepening of loss. Accepting such a fact should not be understood as a trigger for a headache. On the contrary. The PDK must understand that internal interest groups are allowed to compete and “fight each other, can enjoy their own tricks and egos, but that lost energy spent against each other compensates for political rivals in their behalf. The generation struggle, the young against the old, the indirect demonstration of generations only harms the PDK from within. Financial-powered interest groups may achieve selfish goals, but the result has shown that they are strengthened, but the weak structures in this confrontation with them day after day and election after election make the party weaker. The PDK open to the new generation provides it with youth and political health. New generation that grows in the spirit of free, independent and sovereign Kosovo is being given adequate space to their career and professional and political identity, building on national values that have created the liberation movement and efforts to establish the state of Kosovo. No calls at the value of the Kosovo Liberation Army, but decoupling these values has stability in space and time. In a Kosovo that will one day enter the 50th anniversary of the liberation, very rare will be KLA veterans. Their physical rarity does not mean aging and death of spirit, ideas, heritage and historical values of the KLA and great national personalities. Skenderbegian spirit, the spirit of reborn Hasan Pristina, Adem Demaci, Adem Jashar, Ukshin Hoti, Ibrahim Rugova, etc. does not die or die with the physical death of personalities.
