The victory of SYRIZA, the radical leftist Vetevendosje party, was historic for Greeks in 2015. It ended the long rule of the two parties in Greece. SYRIZA, until then a small party, managed to become the voice of Greeks who could not handle European austerity measures and inspired them, taking the majority of votes.
It was the first time in Greek history that a radical leftist party came to power.
Like our people, the Greeks were prone to populism, and that was one of the reasons for the drastic change in the political environment. Greek society felt unjustly punished by European creditors, especially Germany. Just as Kosovo society, which continues to remain the most deceived and isolated in the Western Balkans, feels.
As his Greek model, Alexis Tsipras, who had similar radical opposition behaviour, with friendly rhetoric both Albin Kurti managed to become the voice of the dissatisfied in Kosovo.
The February 14th elections were clear to all: The Vetevendosje movement enjoys the political moment!
Her victory ended the vile cycle of political blockades, part of which was the Vetevendosje Movement itself since 2014. For the first time, there is expected to be no delay in creating new institutions, especially problematic election of the president, hoping in the new opposition's institutional culture.
How much the Vetevendosje Movement will enjoy this political moment and how long it will dominate the political scene depends heavily on its work and on the commitment of the new opposition. But, as it is, the current opposition will be an easy bite for Kurt. The most endangered one is from himself, from his lack of institutional experience, his ideological and political beliefs and burden, than from this opposition.
When the Greeks voted for Tsipras, they did not expect him to keep all his promises, but chose to give him a chance. Even Kosovars do not expect Kurt to keep all promises, but chose to take the chance.
On the other hand, this is also a chance for opposition parties, but to reflect, reorganize and reform.
The elections resulted in neuroglobalism for all other political subjects, which if not reformed quickly can collapse and fail to resume, thus imposing the reorganization of young and dissatisfied in any new political initiative.
A new hope, especially for the LDK, may also be Lumir Abdixhiku on his candidacy. His choice at the helm of the LDK, except that it can change the trend of the fall, would be a positive pressure, too. The PDK, which, however, must be reformed to be more competitive in the next election.
With these political compositions, such as currently these traditional parties, they will not be able to preserve and maintain even current positions. Many of their figures, who take politics for decades without giving it anything, if they even want the best of their parties is the time to yield.
Fortunately, political contrasts have declined and political electorate is already much more conscious and mobile than ever before. So today, beyond political taxes, everyone who works should be assessed and pushed forward by the state and social processes.
Personally, I'm very skeptical of the results the new government may have. Lured by privileges and opportunities of power, until it enters the cycle of public degradation, I expect only some political spectacle and massive seizure of public institutions from it. But the desire of every responsible citizen is for the country's government to succeed because its achievements are also state successes. However, since Kurti as a leftist is one of the few in the world who until several months ago only preferred sidewalks and public transportation, he is now preferring black jeeps and escorts to be desired.
When parties receive the citizens' answers from the ballot boxes, they should know to read and understand. Hence, the current election results have completely changed the course of politics, both inside and outside. These results, too, stubbornly require generations and new values on the political market.
It is natural that there are electoral speeches ahead of the election. But there are only social realities behind them. The new reality stemming from the February 14th elections requires a different course from previous governments. Dialogue, which was the subject these days, deserves neither a fourth nor a seventh priority. Not even 20th. But the government will have to deal with every open issue without having the comfort of their choice. Even past governments would not deal with dialogue, as if they had the convenience of choice, but this process has been imposed and will impose on the new government.
If Kurt were asked, he would still be happy to fish electorates and deal with populism, but although he is not looking at anything happy as a winner, he now has to deal with the daily problems of citizens and the implementation of the governing program, which he does not yet have.
Kurti has been chosen to lead the country in this period of time, but it remains him to decide whether he will be prime minister or passing through government. With a cabinet full of narcissistics, such as the past, who spread more ignorance combined with self-confidence, that accountability, discretion and professionalism, of course only passersby can be. That way, as former prime minister, only the photograph can remain as a trace to some corner of the institution, no more.
The grown-ups in the room” is the film that best dramatizes the SYRIZA case in debt-laden Greece. After cutting off co-operation with the Troika, which were the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund, as Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras moves by car along with Greek favourite minister Yannis Varoufakis, in a film sequence make a beautiful dialogue. After being thrown onto the car by a crowd of excited Greeks, Yanis tells Tsypras: “They're our strength” And he replies: “They can turn us against” tomorrow. “Minister Yanis Varoufakis, who has been carrying the letter of resignation all along, fully convinced of it: “is not going to happen!”
After 5 months and 12 days, Yannis had returned to his wife's home as if she had resigned. While SYRIZA leader lost his election after four years of government.
Actually, Albin Kurti has people's faith. Temporarily, that's enough for him. But, unfortunately, the people are not enough. The people constantly demand results. Publicly or privately, each citizen does recapitalizations on how much his life has improved with changes made, starting with his own vote.
As the new prime minister, he must now abandon his opposition and government games as adults, spending less time in seeking phrases for citizens' impressed and more on drafting public programmes and policies, because neither does the governing programme.
His program has only a surname: Albin Kurti. The story does not come back, but the problems of the citizens and the state of Kosovo. Where expectations are great, however, disappointment can be made
