German Eurodeput, Romeo Franz, declared today that the European Union must keep its visa promise. At a media conference after the seventh meeting of the Parliamentary Commission for Stabilisation and Association, the EU-Kosovo, Franz stressed the urgency needed for the progress of the dialogue process.
The German Eurodeput also said all agreements that have been reached so far between Kosovo and Serbia should be implemented, until it voiced optimism that the government will be involved constructively in working with the opposition to reach a comprehensive agreement with Serbia as soon as possible.
I know we're asking a lot of you. We are aware that it is up to the EU and member states to fulfill the promises given and eventually to give visa liberalisation, which is extended... We're working hard to convince the reluctant states to change their minds. It's a matter of time for them to change their mind. EU credibility is at the lowest point because of failure to keep the pledge”, Franz said.
He appealed for women's involvement in the dialogue, as he sees it as a key tool for success.
There is no other way for either side. The process of dialogue urgently must move forward. Moving forward is meant to be looked forward to the future. This also means that all agreements reached so far must be taken into account and implemented. The EU's position is very clear at this point. Without progress in dialogue, the European perspective for Kosovo and Serbia will remain only a prospect. Furthermore, we are convinced that the inclusion of women in the dialogue process is a key and key tool for its success... We believe that the government will be constructively involved in working with the opposition to reach a comprehensive agreement with Serbia as soon as possible”, he said, until success depends also on the level of transparency and an open discussion with international partners.
