In March 1972, exactly on March 14th, Kosovo doctors diagnosed the disease “variola wine”, or as it was known among the people “Lija”, a highly dangerous and deadly virus that claimed the lives of 26 citizens.
Epidemiologist Sinan Rizvanolli in a story in the special edition of Klan Kosova has shown how this infectious disease was managed during that period.
There are Kosovo doctors who diagnosed the disease because they did not know it in Belgrade and the one who had contact with the pilgrimage who had brought it, showed the students as an allergic case caused by penicillin”.
Rizvanolli has indicated that the first doctor to diagnose this disease was Agim Serhat from Gjakova.
