Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, through a video message, has announced that he will ask the Kosovo Parliament that “mandate of Specialised Chambers and Specialised Prosecutor's Office will last until the announcement of the end of the mandate is made by the European Union Council in consultation with the Government of the Republic of Kosovo”.
“I have the conviction that Kosovo deputies will support this reasonable request and remain deeply convinced that, supporting justice to do justice, honours the Kosovo Assembly and increases the state's responsibility of Kosovo”, he has said.
Thaci has said he has attended initiatives and the debate that has started on the possibility of completing the Special Court's term.
We know that in these twenty years after the liberation, Kosovo has not lacked international and special courts in their own kind. Specialised rooms are the fifth consecutive court for the same claims, a record of its kind in the world”, he has said.
According to him, we cannot allow for our destiny, not today or in the future, to speak and decide states that were against our freedom and citizenship.
We leave justice to him. Politics should not interfere in justice, nor should justice interfere in politics. This has been my conviction when I've relied on each step of establishing international courts and special panels in these twenty-x1>, he said. /Periscopi/
