Avid-19's pandemic follows to grow rapidly in Kosovo, while in the last two days 31 citizens have lost their lives. This grim picture has disturbed state authorities, who have claimed the situation is too serious.
The chairman of the Kosovo Medical Oda, Plerat Sejdiu, said at Euronews Albania that the situation in Kosovo remains serious. According to him, the infection rate is very large not only in the large population but also in the health staff.
The fact is, we are now controlling what we can control. We are very worried about the infection in the population, but even in the health staff, which is alarming at this point”, he said.
He stressed that measures against pandemic have not been properly respected, while criticising state authorities for not doing enough in this direction. Dr. Sejdiu sounded the alarm that the health system in Kosovo is on the verge of collapse.
The state's “task is to take measures that are recommended by health professionals, but the main policy task is to monitor respect for these measures. The structures have hesitated to use strong hands, and these measures have been ignored. To a large extent, complying with measures leaves much to be desired. The measures have been ignored and therefore we have a situation like this. We are on the brink of a collapse in the” health system, he added.
