He has said it is urgent that private sector requirements be addressed as soon as possible to support their demands.
This is the full letter of the head of OEK:
In this challenging time, where we're all filled with uncertainty about the situation, ourselves, our relatives and our country, I hope you're healthy and your jobs are working out.
First of all, in this unprecedented global crisis, it is each of us's responsibility to care for the preservation of people's public health as the number one priority in this pandemic, which we can fight only united.
After all, the Kosovo economy has also been severely damaged by COVID-19 and the establishment of border measures to prevent its spread.
Now, it's known the damage that has been done to the private sector of the country's economy as a result of pandemic, so in this letter I'm going to try to focus on solutions rather than on problems that are so many. In the quality of the Kosovo Chamber of Economics, the representative and voice of more than 15,000 businesses, where over the years we have contributed to a better business environment, promotion of investment and competitiveness of businesses, it is difficult and painful to talk about a situation where many businesses are on the verge of bankruptcy, where we are losing thousands of jobs and where the country's economy is in a very heavy condition.
The private sector, of course, remains the most powerful driver of sustainable economic growth, and should be treated as such. Let's not forget that the private sector is the taxpayers and the biggest employer. He, among other things, guarantees the well - being of thousands of citizens in the country. But the sad truth is that, today, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and rapid institutional inaction, Kosovar businesses are struggling for survival. The survival of businesses and the resolution of many problems now is not possible without the intervention of the state, which should be with clear and efficient goals.
The private sector has unconditionally supported the country and state institutions at all times and now knowing and knowing limited budget capacity, hopes in supporting relevant institutions and finding modalities to ease the situation.
Currently, it is very important that the <x0 emergency> ” package be implemented in its entirety without additional delays, followed by the package of economic recovery addressing private sector needs. For business and private sector workers, who are the main taxpayers in the country, there is little importance to who should make the decision whether to review the budget or not and other legal and political complications. In turn, we consider that reviewing the budget and international agreements would have to be voted in as soon as possible, as they are vital to saving companies and jobs and as such should be on party interest. Also, the package of economic recovery remains hope and the only way out of a possible economic collapse, with irreversible consequences for decades.
The Kosovo Assembly and each MPs must be in place of economic recovery. Urgent business needs should be addressed as soon as possible and the private sector calls on the position and opposition to be unified in supporting the country's economy.
I appeal to you to take a serious look at the state of the private sector because a quick institutional action is necessary to enable the survival of our economy. While all of us have to change the behavior of new normality, always aiming to prevent the spread of new COVID-19., it is important to mobilise, especially the Government Assembly, as key acts, to support businesses.
We are working every day on awareness of businesses, placing emphasis on genuine respect for social distance measures, wearing masks and hygiene by employees, regular disinfectation, and safety of products as essential measures for failing to increase the number of cases.
Kosovo has no comfort in losing any jobs. Kosovo and the private sector cannot remain at the mercy of luck and time. We remain committed to co-ordinating activities and offering unlimited assistance in the function of supporting the country's economy.
We save our companies.
The hand of the state in support of the business ends calling OEK chairman Berat Rukiqi.
