Exhausted leaders from long negotiations finally gave the go-ahead for the EU's common loan to be distributed in the form of grants in the face of an economic downturn that has not been seen since the Great Depression, writes the Guardian”.
The conclusion of tiring negotiations made it known to European Council President Charles Michel, who was leading the debate. He wrote only one word in Titter: “Agreement! ”
At a press conference he held later, the former Belgian prime minister said the marathon of the talks was successfully completed and that this agreement would be a key moment on Europe's journey. The European project's “Law continues to function”, he added.
France's president, Emmanuel Macron, said this is a historic day for Europe, while the euro currency marked an increase in value compared to the dollar following news of reaching the deal.
The agreement was reached at a meeting held at 5: 15 minutes Tuesday morning. The states agreed that the tools would be donated in the form of irreversible grants for countries most affected by Coronobrus.
