Bujanoc comes in support of Thaci and Wessel: KLA fought fair

The Bujanovac municipality in the Presevo Valley has reacted to claims that the Special Prosecutor's Office has filed war crimes against Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and PDK chairman Kadri Weselin.

In a statement signed by Bujanovac Mayor Shaip Kamberi, as well as Parliamentary Chairman Adnan Salihu, unequivocally confirmed the stance and conviction that the defence fight of Kosovo's citizens, led by the Kosovo Liberation Army, and supported by NATO forces, was a fair and clean struggle for Kosovo's liberation against Slobodan Milosevic's genocide regime, the military forces, Serbia's paramilitary police in Kosovo.

“We consider the operation of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office to publish the announcement of an unconfirmed indictment by Kosovo Liberation Army's Pre-Procedure Judge against two of the main leaders, Mr. Hashim Thaci and Mr. Kadri Wessel. We express concern that this act of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office is also a violation of human rights and is in complete opposition to the fundamental principle of justice - that of presuming innocence. We reiterate that the KLA's defensive fight has been fair and will remain so forever. It can never be stained. The international community should highly appreciate the co-operation of Kosovo institutions and former KLA members with international justice institutions over these twenty years, including the Specialised Chambers. Throughout these processes, the purity of the Albanian people's struggle for freedom and independence has been witnessed. We recognise and highly appreciate the sacrifice, commitment and contribution of the NATO-led Kosovo Liberation Army, and its allies, to Kosovo's freedom and independence. Solarize and unanimously express full support for Mr. Hashim Thaci and Mr. Kadri Wessel, who are among the founders and leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and express firm confidence in their innocence”, is said among other things in the Bujanoc municipality's declaration.

They have considered the unjust and dangerous but irreversible efforts, trends to criminalise the fair and glorious war of the people of Kosovo for freedom and independence, rejecting any attempts to label it. NLA as a aggressor.

The truth about the history of the Albanian people cannot be distorted, nor can it be alienated from those who claim to equate the victims with the leaders of Serbian crimes. Kosovo cannot weaken anyone and its Euro-Atlantic future can neither divert nor halt any efforts. As representatives of citizens, elected democraticly, we call for unity among people and co-ordination of commitments between political parties to preserve the state of Kosovo, the values of war and the purity of the Kosovo Liberation Army”, said in the declaration signed by the mayor of Bujanovac, Shaip Kamberi, as well as Parliament Speaker Adnan Salihu.
