It says: Merro Base
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Kadri Veseli are in a process of investigation by The Hague tribunal's Specialised Chambers after the special prosecutor has handed over a ten-point indictment on 24 April.
Special Prosecutor's Office announcement takes place three days before Kosovo meeting at the White House, and two months after surrendering to Court
No matter how neutral you are in this story, it is evident that the fact that we are dealing with reporting on the prosecution several months after its surrender and three days before the Washington meeting, and not with any confirmed indictment, is a political blow to Kosovo.
Using the announcement of the indictment's surrender for political purposes in this case is flagrant, and practically eliminates the Kosovo delegation's authority for talks with Serbia.
Even more unfavourable, is, we today raise conspiracy theories about the Special Court and the mix of European policies against USA in this story. In any case, Kosovo will be lost.
The fact is that the Kosovo delegation in Washington has been disabled. Kosovo has already charged the president of the Republic, the former prime minister, former parliament speaker and several other second-hand figures.
Under these conditions, Kosovo's delegation to Washington will face Serbian aggressors, not as a victim, but unjustly as aggressors, and this makes that meeting laugh.
The political announcement of the Special Prosecutor's Office has not damaged Hashim Thaci, but Washington's meeting. So this meeting doesn't make sense to me. It should be cancelled by the entire Kosovo delegation, thanking the US for its will to advance the resolution of the problem between Albanians and Serbs, but awaiting clarification of the charges and their judgment.
Albanians and Serbs cannot talk to each other, at a table, where half of the delegation have their hands in the chains.
The Washington summit's annulment is real respect to the US and its president seeking to promote this process. This does not fail his initiative, but makes the need for negotiations necessary under equal conditions.
The prosecutor's office announcement has not been made to brand Hashim Thaci. This announcement was made to disrupt exactly Washington's meeting.
Hashim Thaci does not have to feel worried or frustrated by this movement. No Kosovo politician has so far lost politically why he has faced charges of The Hague tribunal. Rather, many are in politics just because of these accusations that have not been tried. And we're not talking about criminal charges yet, but a tactic of public relations by the specialised prosecutor's office.
On a personal level, this is the only thing that values his political image and gives more life to his political career.
But on the national level, publishing the indictment against him, before a historic meeting, is a blow under the belt for Kosovo and attempts to turn Serbian aggressors into victims and Albanians into aggressors.
History cannot be overturned with statements of prosecutors wanting to use intercompetitive policy to become important in their work.
The need for historic reconciliation between Albanians and Serbs cannot exceed historical truth, which Albanians were the victims of Serbs in this story. And if that truth is not respected, any peace will be false, unworthy, and unstable.
