German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed opposition to economic isolation during the Coronavirus pandemic, following a video conference with directors of the five major international economic and financial organs in Berlin.

“Unemployment will lead to poverty and from there to hunger”, Merkel continued, adding that providing food for humanity was of vital importance.
Merkel also stressed the importance of international co-operation among the countries, as well as calling for reforms in the global trade body.
