Three first-line health care workers have fallen mysteriously from hospital windows in Russia over the past two weeks, raising public attention to working conditions among the coronary pandemic.
The three incidents, which are being investigated by Russian authorities, have sparked strong discussions in the Russian press and in social media.
Alexander Shulepov, an ambulance doctor in Voronez, a town about 320 miles south of Moscow, is in serious condition after falling out of the hospital window on Saturday. Local state television said he fell out of the window of the second floor hospital in Novousmanskaya, where he worked. Alexander was receiving treatment after resulting positive with Coronavirus.
Shulepov was admitted to the hospital on April 22nd, on the same day he and his colleague, Alexander Kosyakin, posted a video on the internet saying that Shulepov had been forced not to continue his work after resulting in a positive showing of corruption.
Kosaykin had earlier criticised the hospital administration for lack of protective means on his social networks and had been questioned by police for spreading false news.
Kosyakin confirmed these details for CNN in an interview.
“Shulepov was in intensive care and, as far as I know, he was in serious condition. The last time I spoke to him was on April 30th”, Kosyakin told CNN. He started feeling good and was getting ready to leave the hospital. All of a sudden, it's not clear why or what. I've got a lot of questions in my head and I don't find any answers to the”, Kosyakin.
Shulepov was the third health worker in Russia to fall out of the window in the past two weeks.
On May 1st, Elena Nemnyashchaya, a temporary doctor at a hospital in the Siberian town of Krasnoyarsk, died after spending a week in intensive care”, the Ministry of Health Regional Department said in a statement.
The local TV station Krasnoyarsk reported at the time that allegedly Nepomnyashchaya fell out of the window during a meeting with regional health officials, during which they discussed turning the clinic into a coronary facility.
Nemnyashchaya was reportedly opposed to those changes because of the lack of protective resources in the hospital. The Department of Regional Health denied these claims in a statement, adding that the hospital and its staff are equipped with necessary safeguards.
On April 24, Natalia Lebedeva, leader of the Star City emergency medical service, the main training base for Russian cosmonauts, died in a hospital after a fall.
The hospital within the Federal Biomedical Agency said that “occurred a tragic incident”, without clarifying it.
In the statement, the hospital said, “It was a real professional in its field, saving human life every day!”
