Sweden takes over the A.H. trial. arrest suspect in Prizren

A. Hadri, suspected of killing his parents in Prizren's “Ortrakko-”, will be investigated by Swedish authorities from now on. The reason for this is the lack of an agreement on international judicial co-operation between Kosovo and Sweden, which fails to extradite him to Kosovo. He was arrested by Swedish authorities [...]

A double murder had occurred in Prizren on January 21st of this year.

Just two days after coming to Kosovo, Durim and Suada Hadri were shot to death with firearms at their house in the district of “Ortaccol”

Near their troops were found and a five - bullet pistol, a box of 49 bullets and two shellings were confiscated.

The only suspect is their little boy, A. Hadri, who was arrested by Swedish authorities on March 3rd under the international warrant of the Basic Prosecutor's arrest in Prizren.

There will also continue to be criminal proceedings against him, because he cannot be extradited to Kosovo.

Prizren Prosecutor's spokeswoman Victory Mehmeti has told Gazeta Express that in the absence of any international judicial co-operation agreement in the middle of the Republic of Kosovo, Swedish authorities have announced that the extradition of Cifi Hadri's son is not possible.

The “you refer to, we inform you that defendant A.H. has been arrested in Sweden. Since the defendant in question is Swedish citizens and that in the absence of any bilateral international judicial co-operation agreement, extraditions between the Republic of Kosovo and Sweden, respectively, and that Swedish authorities on the basis of their legislation in effect do not allow extradition for their citizens, then have announced to us beforehand that the eventual extradition of the defendants is not possible due to these procedures, Mehmeti has said.

Mehmeti has indicated that Prizren's Constitutional Prosecutor has submitted calls for the transfer of criminal procedure from the Republic of Kosovo to Sweden and that this request has already been approved.

“Aday, under these circumstances, the Constitutional Prosecutor in Prizren through the Department of International Jury Co-operation under the Ministry of Justice, has filed a request for the transfer of criminal procedure against defendants A.H., from the Republic of Kosovo to the Swedish Republic, which has even been approved by Swedish authorities”, she has declared.

With the approval of such a request, criminal proceedings against Hadri will now be conducted by Swedish authorities.

The currently criminal proceedings against defendants A.H. will be conducted near the competent bodies of the Swedish state”, said Mehmet's responses

The house where the Prizren couple were killed by the Ortac district

The murder of the couple who lived in Stockholm and had Swedish citizenship had been reported in the media.

Swedish police have said they are involved in the investigation.

“As is usually the case with events happening abroad, it is local authorities dealing with preliminary investigations. Swedish police are helping on this occasion”, spokeswoman Nadia Jaber had said.

Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lynn Duvhammar had declared that the Swedish government is aware of the event.

By contrast, according to Kosovo Police statistics, which has provided the Express newspaper, 17 murders occurred in the country during the past year alone, 10 of which had been serious killings.

Based on this data, most of these murders have occurred in Pristina and Prizren. Meanwhile, in Pec, previously mentioned in the numerous murders, no murder was committed during 2019.
