In the fund account initiated by incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti, 170 thousand euros have been collected for four days.
Kosovo Government spokesman Progress Kryeziu has indicated that the fund is aimed at raising funds from governments of foreign states, organisations, but also diasporas.
So far today's data says that we've accepted approximately 170 thousand euros of tools from the diaspora, which have been identified as means that came”, he said in an interview for Online Economics.
Kryeziu has explained that this is not a single diaspora fund, but is the sub-calor of the state treasury.
“This is not a special fund dedicated to the diaspora is just an invitation for assistance from the diaspora, which the Government of the Republic of Kosovo has issued through the prime minister. We are talking about a sub-counter that has been active since April 1st is within the sole account of Kosovo's treasury, aimed at accepting all loans, donations, grants coming from abroad, including aid from foreign governments, multilateral and financial institutions”.
However, given the role and importance of the diaspora today and which has been constantly directed to support them too, since their support is direct support both to their family and to our public health”.
Kryeziu says convinced that managing this fund will be transparent and the means will go to combat the body's pandemic.
According to him, if financial means remain after the pandemic the Government will contact donors for use in something else or even their return to donors.
And for these tools, we want to provide all of us both diaspora and foreign governments and other international institutions that are helping Kosovo”.
The use of these tools will be completely transparent with high accountability, they have been given a specific code for the purpose of combating pandemic, and these tools can't for a moment be used for anything else as long as they don't approve of donors who own these” tools.
The Fund is initiated on April 1st and is sub-caluated within the state treasury.
