Confession of Kosovo nurse affected by COVID19

While citizens are isolated in their homes, a weapon that is constantly being demanded by competent organs as a safeguard clause, are doctors and nurses who are standing on the front line, present-day heroes.

One of them is Astrit Behram, who was one of those affected by COVID19, as he managed to heal completely.

Behram is a health worker at the American Hospital in Kosovo, in Pristina. The one about Indexonline confessed to how it got infected.

As many of my colleagues, doctors and nurses, but as many citizens of the world and my country, I have also turned out to be a potential with the Tyvid virus 19, at the head of the most sacred, more human and noble mission, the delivery of health and medical services and the care of citizens in the fight against this, now global pandemic. During my job as a nurse in this same hospital, I had a patient who had health problems.

I didn't know he was positive with David 19. As always, but also from the situation created in recent times, of course added carefully, I was on protective measures, and I was with tools of work, with protective tools, and I still don't know how it came to infection, when I actually took all the necessary steps and I was equipped with mantel, gloves, mask and glasses. After working hours ended, of course tired, but very proud of the services I made to the patient in question, as well as many others, for which we are called home.

Like other times, I stayed with my family, experiencing her warmth and love. Late in the evening, the phone rings. They were from the hospital. I was informed that the patient with whom I had contact turned out to be positive with Covid 19. In fact, I was very worried because I now spent the whole day with my family. But in fact, in view of the protective measures I had undertaken during my work, I felt a measure of confidence, that I could not be infected. Despite that, after six days, I took the test. It was Sunday, not ordinary days like other days, because they called me from the Institute of Health and showed me that unfortunately I turned out to be a positive with the Tyvid” Virus, he says.

And when he realized that he had been affected by the virus, he confessed that his family and children were the greatest concern.

I felt terrible, not for myself, but for my family. I cried out for them, especially for my parents, because they're too old now. We had no sleep that night, neither I nor my family. It's a feeling of fear, of what will happen to us from now on. I, since the announcement of the news, have been vetilized since then. Fortunately, I didn't even have a symptom. I felt so good in health.

By all means, I tried to maintain a good mood and was very optimistic, even sure that nothing bad would happen. I didn't give up. On the other hand, I was very afraid of my family, my parents, and my children. After a few days, my family was tested. Fortunately, all of them resulted in negatives, and that made it very easy for me to overcome this infamous virus. We believe it wasn't good days, we had family, because we were in the same house, but we couldn't be together.

The walls separated us. I was overwhelmed by feelings of homesickness. I heard his voice, but I couldn't hug him. The children did not know, of course, that they could not understand what was going on but that they wanted me to play together. With much pain and caution, I had to refuse their request, saying that later, or tomorrow, we will play and go out together. That feeling just went off in me. It was a tough day, but not manageable. This isolation that I was forced into was easier in the face of other situations, in this sense I understood how some lives are lived, so the lives of people with special needs, or the lives of older persons, who are kept in the house of elders, who are limited and few visits.

With the latest tests, after 14 days, I turned negative, complete recovery. Thank God I've already had this challenge.

Behram also has an appeal for all citizens, while he thanks all those who stood by him in these difficult times for him.

I wish that as soon as this situation passes, we can live free and without sorrow! I thank my family and friends very much for being close to me during this time by being careful and imparting unique love. They called me and we talked a lot like before isolation. These conversations were a great relief to me by making me appreciate the value of life, family, and social circles.

I also thank the National Institute of Public Health that each day called me seems to take care of my health and that of my family.
