The country's president, Hashim Thaci, recalled the 75th anniversary of Tivar's Massacre, saying it entered the line of crimes against humanity.
The head of state said that despite the long embarrassion, Albanians never forgot this monstrous crime, for which none of the identities and executioners have been brought to justice.
Thaci's full post:
After the end of the uprising of Commander Shaban Polluza, Tivar's massacre is one of the worst crimes against Albanians in 1945. Disarmed, hungry, thirsty, thousands of Albanians set off towards the planned death of the Yugoslav military and political leader. This crime tried to be downplayed and silenced in Yugoslav and Serbian politics in the context of victory over fascism after the end of World War II.
But, despite the long strain, Albanians never forgot a single monstrous crime, for which none of the identities and executioners have been brought to justice.
Tivar's massacre is in line for crimes against humanity, committed today and 75 years ago. HTH
