Glory for New Kosovo, Greater Postwar Investment

New Kosovo thermal power plant “” is not being built. The American company “Contour Global” withdrew from its investment. It directly accused Kurti Government, which publicly opposed its construction. But in this contaminated political environment and with Coronavirus, who also changed our way of life, the most important topics for the future of our Republic cannot get the right attention.

However, this news sufficed for some tragic figures within Vetevendosje to immediately take a spell. Even the vice president of the Parliament fell into a dilemma. But the first one who proudly wished to announce the sponsors who completed the mission was Hakki Abazi.

It was launched under the WEC's clothing and is now finishing it as Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Kosovo.

Hakki Abaz's interest group, full of a decade, opposed the construction of the thermo-power plant “New Kosovo/Re”, which was supposed to be a certain Kosovo economic development plant.

After Hakiu, of course, now hakaten and his sponsors, because the signing of the contract in December 2017 for TC “New Kosovo” was just according the commercial terms of the project. While the financial closure of this project was expected to take place in May of this year, which, in all likelihood, would reject all assumptions on which they built the final cost.

But right now, when those assumptions were expected to be confirmed on the market and financial closures occurred. So, when the construction price and the cost of funding should be provided as key components of the total cost for the construction of the “New Kosovo thermal power plant, the Hakiu government did not even give them the chance to see what the price of the market would be, what would be the cost of funding and what would be the funding policies of these projects from international financial institutions, thus closing the “dialogue” for Kosovo's most vital project.

This door was made with the assumption that Europe in 2050, according to several other EU states up to 2060, would completely abandon coal as raw materials for electricity production.

So this sacrifice of ours is becoming 30-40 years before the EU itself, which is very flexible in changing policies.

As for citizens' knowledge, this foreign direct investment worth over 1 billion euros is nearly sixfold of foreign investment in the past five years.

But this up-to-date civil society satrap had always tried to sacrifice small Kosovo on behalf of a very global cause, such as climate change, thus rejecting the use of coal as the first substance for energy production. Kosovo's small and with major energy problems, according to Hakki Abbas, had to sacrifice its resources, despite all international institutions' studies, resulting in the economically favourable option for energy production in Kosovo.

Although we have numerous local and national problems, without wanting to relate all global problems, nothing further than neighbouring countries like Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are in the process of building thousands of coal-based megawatts. While, according to this everyday civil society satrapy, Kosovo does not. Imagine now, on average, China is turning it into surgery from a coal-based thermal power plant to protect the world from global warming.

His hypocrisy does not end there.

From a strict environmentalist, who for decades opposed the construction of the “New Kosovo 818x1>, since on the basis of coal, Hakki Abazi without political fiber became part of a political party that in her programme has the complete regeneration of the thermo-power plant “Kosovo A”, with the installation of technology for burning coal. It became part of a political party, where public-owned refounding of the Linj Corporation was found in the programme, under which existing mines, fields of exploitation and mining areas of lignite were included, as well as the construction of two generation aggressors in public property, with an identical capacity with Kosovo B1 and B2.

Moreover, continuing to operate thermal power plant “Kosovo A” is extremely harmful, but closing it without the construction of the “New Kosova” was always unimaginable.

While, now the renovation of the “thermal power plant Kosovo A” and not the construction of the “New Kosovo thermal power plant, according to Vetevendosje experts, is the right solution.

First of all, completely unfairly they've always put these two different projects together. Even as investments are technically unmatched, because for the construction of thermal power plant “New Kosovo”, dozens of studies have been done by organisations and firms with global regenerations, while Kosovo has lacked these studies. But even if a total renovation is made to the “Kosovo A”, the life expectancy of its operation would be 20 years long, while construction of the “thermal power plant, New Kosovo, ”, would have minimal operation life expectancy 40 years.

The security of the power supply is vital even to the safety of our country, so we are all witnesses to a toughness or let's say conditionally a struggle for access to energy resources anywhere in the world. If Kosovo does not build new capacities, this implies almost total dependence on import, where the main suppliers would be the very states that are building new capacities in the region, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In such a position, Kosovo is forced to buy at any price these countries want to sell energy to us, thus detecting our economic development, if we leave the promise that energy is the precondition for economic development.

Much, too, has been propagandad that the construction of the “New Kosovo” plant would also increase the price of energy, but it would be a much more planned and controlled growth than the price of electricity import, which is constantly on the rise.

Eventually, foreign investments have been one of the main problems in recent years and for increased production and employment they are necessary. But, being a small state, the Republic of Kosovo has no comfort in becoming the arena of Hakki Abbas' sponsors or lobbyists, who for their interests ignore even the interest of our state and citizens.
