Kosovo is a parliamentary democracy in which citizens choose their representatives in the Parliament and who choose the Kosovo government based on a formed majority. The Kosovo Assembly has a four-year mandate, and the government in Kosovo's political system depends on the majority in the country providing governance.
“Calls for brother-in-law and for uprisings against the parliamentary majority are dangerous, go against the political culture and values of Kosovo and its citizens who have been fighting for decades for a country that is democratic, free and respecting the free will and free speech of all”, said in response.
The AKR will support the majority in the Kosovo Assembly, which requires a solution that ensures stability, unity and respect of the will of Kosovo's citizens to preserve strategic alliances with the US and key European partners in Kosovo.
Kosovo's citizens have traditionally shown agreement and respect with the constitution and rule of law, and these calls for violence and hatred do not belong to Kosovo citizens and their values, the AKR's response concludes.
Bahtiri warned “conflicted brother-in-law” if a new parliamentary majority is formed without the Vetevendosje Movement.
Mitrovica Chairman Agim Bahtiri has clarified his statement made today, saying it was drawn from the context. He has said that since he is in politics he has always made invitations to calm citizens and to solving political problems with dialogue.
