Gazeta Express sources from the conference held in Munich tell of the way Kurt's doors were closed by Kosovo's main ally. Pompeo and Greenell refused to meet him. Furthermore, sources said no senior US official would meet Kurt without removing the fee for Serbian goods.
Albin Kurti made a beautiful performance at Pristina Airport yesterday, when he traveled to Munich with “economy class” or when he left the police escort at Slaatin.
In Munich, however, it does not seem to have worked out as he wished. Sidmos not with the two powerful Americans there, Mike Pompeo, American Secretary of State, and Richard Green, ambassador of the United States to Germany.
As Prime Minister Kurti and Diplomacy Chief Konjufca roamed the airports, President Hashim Thaci and his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vuqic, appeared at the signing ceremony of the next two agreements, under the mediation of Ambassador Grenelli.
Formally, there were two civil servants from the Ministry of Infrastructure in the government.
And Albin Kurt seemed to know nothing about this deal.
He kept silent until evening, but at the Safety Conference in Munich, he rejected them, while publicly he did so in the evening through a Facebook post and careful language, to some extent.
Two agreements by officials authorised by former Prime Minister Paul Lekaj have been signed in Munich today, and the entire negotiation process has been made before the start of our government. From here on, these officials have not received authorization from the new government to either negotiate or sign agreements. Moreover, neither the text of the agreement has been made known to the public nor to the Government. Various unofficial drafts of” have circulated, Kurti said.
And that's not what Americans like.
From the Munich Security Conference said Kurti's prolonging stance on the fee, and now the opposition of two agreements reached with Serbia is unacceptable to Washington.
As a result, they have made it clear to Prime Minister Kosovar yesterday immediately.
According to the same sources, Kurt asked yesterday to meet with US Secretary of State Mike Poppow, and Ambassador Richard Green, but their response has been cut.
No. That's exactly”, shown the source of the Journal Express.
According to these sources, with its recent statements on two agreements reached with Serbia, with its insistence on tariffs or reciprocity, Prime Minister Kurti has entered a course of direct confrontation with the United States.
“No one can undermine the dialogue process”, Gazeta Express sources said.
According to them, Ambassador Green and no senior American official will even meet Kurt without removing the 100 percent fee on Serbia's goods.
None of the top American officials will ever meet Kurt until he takes off the tax. Kurti will meet with low-ranking officials”, this newspaper source has said.
While Albin Kurti rejected the deal reached with Serbia, his partner in Government, the LDK, welcomed him.
In fact, today in Munich, Kurt's deputy, Avdullah Hoti, met Ambassador Green, while the same man has refused yesterday to meet with Hott's Chief Albin Kurti.
I met Ambassador Green today and other US officials. We discussed the important processes that we need to deal with immediately as the new Government”, Hoti said through a Facebook post.
“I assured that we will be reliable partners in this process of normalising relations with our neighbour Serbia, with the final goal of mutual recognition. I assured her that the new government will not leave its responsibilities in this process, and that we are fully committed to making progress”.
Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has taken on an extraordinary dynamic, as President Trump appointed his envoys to this process, Ambassador Green. So far, three agreements have been reached and more appears to be under way.
Albin Kurti does not seem to be prepared for such dynamics in dialogue. The prime minister had said that agreements reached so far must be considered first and last night, in an interview for REL, said dialogue could start on after Serbia gets the new government after the April elections. However, at a panel of discussion, Kurti said there can be no agreement without dialogue, there can be no talks with maps, nor can there be maps on the table when presidents are brought to it.
